International legislation on mediation

A comparative map, country by country, of mediation laws and the transposition of the EU ADR Directive — 195 jurisdictions catalogued.

The list covers all 195 jurisdictions surveyed by the comparative database of mediareinformati.it. Articles are currently only available in Italian; where a multilingual legal text page exists, the link below goes directly to it. Otherwise the link leads to the source article (in Italian) or to the summary page on mediareinformati.it (marked ), with the reference law, status and official sources.

For the full text of historical laws — some dating back to the eighteenth century — on mediation and dispute-resolution systems in 31 countries and supranational bodies, see the Historical legislation section, drawn from the collection Sistemi di composizione delle controversie by Carlo Alberto Calcagno (Italian only).

For mediation reforms not yet approved — all 195 countries surveyed (197 with the two supranational bodies), monitored periodically — see the Pending bills tracker section (Italian only).

Jurisdictions with at least one mediation/ADR measure approved between 2020 and 2026 are marked in the list with the badge UPDATED, linking to the page with the reform details: currently 55 jurisdictions.

For the full text of the law currently in force, translated into Italian, English, French and Spanish, see the Legal texts (multilingual) section (currently 197 countries — all 27 EU member states plus Turkey, and a growing group of other non-EU jurisdictions across Europe, the Americas, Asia, the Middle East and Africa — marked in the list with the link multilingual text).
